Latin; Miraculous, wonderful, remarkable, amazing, surprising
In 2021, on the eve of one of the Barossa’s most destructive hailstorms, new owners entered the gates of this remarkable vineyard over looking Marananga and Seppeltsfield on the Barossa’s western ridge. Despite the challenging welcome mother nature provided, two families set out to create a space and wines that tell a delightfully diverse story of the Barossa, Mirus.
About Us
Wonderground Gallery and Mirus Vineyard, is an Art Gallery, Vineyard, Cellar Door and Sanctuary covering 80 acres on the Barossa Valley’s Western Ridge.
Nick Radford, Kirsty Kingsley, Luke Edwards and Renee de Saxe, two viticulturalists and two artists.
Kirsty and Renee were originally looking for an art gallery space in the Barossa when the property came up for sale.
Standing on the point, atop a rocky outcrop near the “Block 21 - Ridge Shiraz” looking north towards Marananga, both the artists and the viticulturalists knew this was literally the point of no return.
This is where our two families have come together to interweave art and creative practice into the craft of winemaking. It is an exploration of our passions, art and wine, from this unique property; celebrating the wonderous nature of this site.
Custodians
Traditionally Ngadjuri Country, our families pay respect to elders past, present and emerging and are grateful to be the current custodians of this magical site.
For over 100 years, this property was loved and farmed by four generations of the Neldner Family before coming up for sale in 2021. Like most properties across the valley, Mirus was a mixed farm with the first vineyards planted in the late 1800’s. The oldest surviving vines on the property were planted in 1936.
